Ontario is leading the nation on job creation

Employment is up in Ontario.

Recent job numbers show that this government’s plan to rebuild Ontario’s economy is working. With many more good-paying jobs in manufacturing, skilled trades, and a host of other categories, we have created nearly half a million jobs since this government took office in June 2018.

Employment gains in Ontario led the country, increasing by 42,700 jobs in October, with an increase of 4,600 in the manufacturing sector.

This good news shows that the government’s efforts to attract job creators to our province is more important than ever, and we’re going to get it done.

By enabling an annual $7 billion in cost savings for Ontario businesses and attracting hundreds of millions of dollars into Ontario’s venture capital ecosystem, we are creating the best possible conditions for businesses to grow and add jobs.

The government’s recent trade mission to Germany and Austria showcased Ontario as a leading jurisdiction in EV manufacturing, building on the $16 billion of auto investments we’ve attracted over the last two years to protect and create thousands of jobs.

And just last month, Ontario secured a $340 million investment by telecommunications giant Nokia to build their new Canadian headquarters in Ottawa, demonstrating that Ontario continues to be a safe place to invest and grow.

Companies around the world are looking to Ontario for their future and attracting global national partners like Nokia is proof that Ontario is open for business and open for jobs.
