Ontario Continues to See Job Growth in Key Sectors – January 2023
For the fourth straight month, Ontario has seen an increase in new jobs. Employment in Ontario increased by 62,800 jobs in January, with Ontario leading the nation in job creation last month.
Today’s job numbers show that our plan to build Ontario’s economy is working, but our hard work will not end there. Since our government took office in June 2018, we have created over 600,000 jobs.
We continue to invest in training to help more people launch rewarding careers in the skilled trades. Since the Skills Development Fund launched in February 2021, we have invested $660 million to deliver 388 training projects.
At the same time, we are strengthening Ontario’s world-class manufacturing sector. To date, Ontario has provided companies with $74 million in support through the Regional Development Program. This funding has helped to facilitate $804 million in investments for 71 projects.
Building Ontario means building a strong and resilient economy that can weather any storm. No matter what the future holds, we will be ready.
