Ontario Connecting Long-Term Care Residents to More Hours of Direct Care
This government is delivering on our plan to fix long-term care by making the biggest investment in staffing in Ontario’s history, bringing Ontario closer to a nation-leading standard of four hours of daily direct care.
We’re providing a record $1.25 billion this year to connect residents to more hours of direct care by hiring and retaining thousands more long-term care staff across the province.
This is part of the government’s historic four-year, $4.9 billion commitment to increase the system-level average direct care time provided by registered nurses, registered practical nurses and personal support workers to a nation-leading standard of four hours per resident, per day by March 31, 2025.
After years of neglect and underfunding by previous governments, This plan to fix long-term care is making a difference in the lives of residents across the province.
