Ontario Celebrates Manufacturing Month and Ontario Made Manufacturing Day
October 6th, 2023
The Ontario government is proud to recognize October as Manufacturing Month, culminating in the celebration of Ontario Made Manufacturing Day on October 6th, in partnership with Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters.
Ontario’s world-class manufacturing sector boasts more than 36,000 manufacturers, employing over 814,000 dedicated individuals. This sector stands as the economic engine of the province, and in the last three years alone, has seen the creation of almost 40,000 new manufacturing jobs.
The province’s commitment to bolstering the manufacturing sector is evident. Through initiatives such as the Ontario Made Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit, local manufacturers are provided with a 10 per cent refundable Corporate Income Tax credit on qualifying investments and equipment, up to $2M annually. This, along with other measures, has reduced the cost of doing business in Ontario by $8 billion a year.
Such efforts have not gone unnoticed on the global stage. Site Selection Magazine recently ranked Ontario as the most competitive province for companies to invest and grow.
In addition to these initiatives, the Ontario government has supported the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters’ launch of the Ontario Made Consumer Directory. Through the SupportOntarioMade.ca website, consumers can easily identify and purchase products manufactured in our province, further promoting the importance of local manufacturing.
We’re pleased to support manufacturers through our Regional Development Program.
