Ontario Celebrates Achievements During Red Tape Awareness Week

This week, Ontario observes the 15th annual Red Tape Awareness Week, a time to highlight the progress made in streamlining regulations to foster a business-friendly environment. The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) has awarded Ontario an A- grade for its efforts in red tape reduction, matching the province’s highest-ever ranking in the CFIB’s yearly evaluation.

The Ministry of Red Tape Reduction is actively engaging with the public through the enhanced portal at Ontario.ca/redtape. Here, individuals and businesses can contribute their suggestions for further eliminating unnecessary regulations. This interactive platform is part of the government’s commitment to ongoing improvement in services and business cost reduction.

Since 2018, Ontario has introduced 11 red tape reduction bills, with three enacted in the previous year alone. These initiatives have culminated in significant savings for businesses, cutting annual gross compliance costs by over $939 million. Red Tape Awareness Week serves as a platform for Ontarians to voice their experiences and share innovative ideas to further this mission. The government remains dedicated to removing regulatory hurdles and invites all to submit their proposals for a more efficient province.
