Investment by Magna Strengthens Ontario’s EV Supply Chain
Today, this government has secured a $471 million investment by auto supplier Magna International, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers.
With $23.6 million in support from the provincial government for the Magna expansion, this transformative investment will create more than 1,000 new well-paying jobs for workers at Magna’s facility in Newmarket and across the province.
This investment includes a new $265 million EV battery enclosure facility in Brampton, creating, approximately 560 new jobs in the region once the facility is at full production.
Magna will also expand its existing automotive manufacturing facilities across the province. More than 475 new jobs will be created in Newmarket and at Magna’s four other facilities in Guelph, Windsor, Belleville and Penetanguishene.
