National Volunteer Week

Volunteers are the backbones of Newmarket-Aurora.

During National Volunteer Week, we recognize and celebrate volunteers across Ontario for all the different ways they step up to make our communities stronger, vibrant and a better place to live.

From welcoming and guiding newcomers to our province, helping neighbours in need, supporting after school programs, promoting arts and culture, coaching youth sports – and so much more – volunteers make a different in so many lives.

Their dedication, kindness and support embody the best of our province, as well as help bring communities together, inspire others and foster a stronger sense of inclusion.

We also use this time to encourage everyone, including the many organizations that benefit from the hard work of their volunteers, to nominate exceptional volunteers in their communities for an Ontario service award.

This government offers several awards to recognize outstanding volunteers who go above and beyond in the service of their communities,  such as the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards, June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism, the Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award for Students.

If you know any exceptional volunteers, nominate them here: https://www.ontario.ca/page/honours-and-awards-volunteering
