Holocaust Education Curriculum

November 9, 2022

Ontario’s government stands firmly against all forms of religious and racial discrimination and intolerance, including antisemitism.

According to Western University and Liberation75, in 2021 42% of students say they’ve witnessed an antisemitic event, and that 1 in 3 students believe the holocaust was fabricated.

With over 50 incidents that involve the use of antisemitic hate symbols in the Toronto District School Board alone in the last school year, action is needed now more than ever.

Currently, Holocaust education and other acts of genocide are included in Ontario’s grade 10 history class.

Now, beginning in grade 6 social studies, students will learn about the Holocaust along with the critical knowledge society requires to root out hatred in all forms.

With antisemitism on the rise, this government is acting swiftly to strengthen educational opportunities for our youngest learners to stop hate from the earliest ages.
