Doubling Ontario’s Economic Immigration

Doubling Ontario’s Economic Immigration

Ontario must welcome more skilled newcomers to strengthen our economy and tackle our province’s generational labour shortage.

That is why, Ontario is doubling the number of economic immigrants it selects in 2025 to over 18,000 through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

With nearly 300,000 jobs going unfilled daily, this historic increase in skilled immigrants will help fill jobs in critical industries like skilled trades, technology and health care.

The OINP allows us to welcome more workers that employers need to grow their businesses and make our community stronger.

From 9,000 immigration spots in 2021 to over 18,000 in 2025, this is a significant win for the people of Ontario and will help us control our economic destiny by selecting more of the skilled immigrants we know are well-placed to succeed and build stronger economies for all of us.
