Celebrating Agriculture Week and Dine Ontario in Newmarket—Aurora
October 6, 2023
October 6th, 2023 – As Agriculture Week draws to a close, the importance of championing our local farmers and the dynamic culinary landscape of Newmarket—Aurora comes to the forefront. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Ontario Agriculture Week, and the province is celebrating Ontario’s thriving agriculture and food supply chain from farm to fork, including restaurants.
To commemorate this milestone, the Dine Ontario initiative has been launched with the objectives to promote local food and beverages in local restaurants, connect Ontario farmers and distributors with more eateries, assist restaurants in attracting more patrons, and inspire customers to opt for local when dining out.
Three standout restaurants in Newmarket—Aurora have embraced the Dine Ontario spirit:
- Ristorante Orsini in Newmarket brings the heart of Italy to our tables, emphasizing their commitment to Dine Ontario by incorporating Ontario produce into their authentic dishes.
- Wicked Eats showcases the essence of the 25th anniversary of Ontario Agriculture Week, underlining the pivotal role local restaurants play in our agriculture and food supply chain by delivering farm-fresh flavors directly to patrons.
- Sweet Dutchess Kitchen & Cafe in Aurora highlights their Dine Ontario commitment by offering pastries and treats sourced from Ontario, adding a sweet touch to the celebration.
Restaurants are a crucial component of our agriculture and food supply chain. This year, the province encouraged restaurants to join the Dine Ontario celebration by showcasing an Ontario feature on their menu and, where feasible, pairing it with an Ontario beer, wine, spirit, or cider beverage.
Ontario remains steadfast in its commitment to support the restaurant industry, ensuring its continued growth and success, in alignment with the goals of the Grow Ontario Strategy.
