Building More Homes and Creating Good-Paying Construction Jobs

  • Our government is lowering the cost to build homes, getting shovels in the ground and protecting good-paying jobs for Ontario workers.
  • In March, Ontario and Canada signed the historic Canada-Ontario Partnership to Build, committing up to $8.8 billion over 10 years for housing-enabling infrastructure to support growth and keep workers on the job.
  • The partnership also supports removing the full HST on eligible new homes from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, saving homebuyers up to $130,000 while helping builders move projects forward.
  • A report by BILD and the OHBA found that home sales rose 130% year over year in the second quarter of 2026.
  • This is how we are protecting Ontario: we’re cutting taxes and red tape, investing billions of dollars in housing-enabling infrastructure, and working with municipalities to get shovels in the ground faster.
